Smile for a Child Boxes

It’s time for SMILE FOR A CHILD boxes! For those who are not aware of this ministry or have forgotten the purpose of this effort, here is a quick refresher. This is a mission we support every year for the children in Nicaragua. The goal is to provide a Christmas for as many children as possible. This year it is even more needed because of the impact of COVID-19 in that country.
A donation of $25-50 will provide Christmas for a child. Contributions can be made (1) online using the GivingFire link at woodlandoaks.org and selecting the Smile for A Child fund, (2) sending a check marked Smile for A Child to the WOCC PO Box (Woodland Oaks Church of Christ, 6700 Woodlands Parkway Suite 230-252, Spring, TX 77382), (3) dropping off a check at the building between Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., or (4) making a donation Sunday morning.
For anyone who would like to fill a box and return it to church office, the list of items to include are at the bottom of this note. There will be labels at church for you to use to indicate sex and age of child (2-10 yrs.).
The deadline to have boxes or money turned in is AUGUST 23. This will provide enough time to have them picked up and shipped to Nicaragua in time for Christmas.

EACH BOX SHOULD CONTAIN:
School Supplies
1. 2 pencils, 1 pencil sharpener, 1 pen
2. Paper product notebook/coloring book
3. 1 set of colors (crayons, markers, or colored pencils)
Personal Items
4. Toothbrush & toothpaste
5. A comb or hairbrush
6. Girls: add hair clips, bows, or hair ties
Clothing
7. 1 item of clothing (Flip flops, shirt, pants, hats, etc.)
Toys
8. 4 toys (Please do not include toys that require batteries, have English only instructions or are “Army” toys), Books should be bilingual or Spanish only
Candy
9. Top off your box with a zip-lock bag of hard candy!! (No chocolate, please!)
BOXES SHOULD BE 6-QUART SIZE: They are $0.99 at Target and probably available at Walmart.
